From Night Owl to Early Bird: My Switch to the AM Shift
So, I did a thing: I traded in my PM shift for the glorious, sleep-deprived chaos that is the AM shift. And let me tell you—my circadian rhythm is still filing a complaint.
Waking up at 2 a.m. feels like being personally attacked by my alarm clock. My bed and I were in a committed relationship, and now I’m ghosting it before sunrise. Rude.
The first week was basically a blur of caffeine, questionable decisions (like thinking one cup of coffee was enough), and me trying to remember how to function like a human before the sun comes up. Spoiler: I still don’t.
But weirdly enough, I’m starting to like it. There’s something magical about getting off work while the rest of the world is still trying to decide what’s for lunch. I have time to run errands, do “adult” things, or take a nap so epic it feels illegal.
If you’re thinking about making the switch—do it. Just stock up on coffee, invest in blackout curtains, and prepare to become that annoying person who brags about “being productive before 9 a.m.” You’ll hate yourself a little, but also… you’ll kind of love it!
